A fisherman in Barangay 3, Poblacion in General Luna town in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte shows off his newly caught needlefish known in the Surigaonon dialect as “bayo” last Thursday (6 April 2017). Fisher folks here said fish yield has continued to dwindle due to several factors such as illegal fishing and marine environmental pollution.
