City PNP director, Chief Insp. Leo Ajero, identified the suspect as Bismar Nakiban Abdul, 32, of Barangay Linao, Datu Blah Sinsuat in Shariff Kabungsuan.
Abdul was arrested at around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday during a highway check by police and the military.
Also arrested was a 14-year old boy whom Abdul said was his buddy. The boy was later turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in North Cotabato for custody.
Abdul was the third suspected drug courier the Task Force Cotabato arrested this week. The two other suspects were arrested in a highway inspection three days ago.
Ajero said Abdul carried at least 100 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) inside a red pack bag and was about to deliver the drugs to a buyer in Davao City.
Task Force Cotabato led by 2nd Lt. Mark Futalan and elements of the Kidapawan City PNP manning the checkpoint along Barangay Balindog arrested Abdul, who at that time of the baggage inspection, was reportedly acting suspiciously.
When asked to open the bag, it contained two big plastic bags loaded with shabu.
Abdul is now locked up in jail and facing charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and possible violation of Republic Act 9344 or the Juvenile Delinquency Act of 1997 for using a 14-year old boy in transporting the drugs. (MindaNews)
