Twin explosions ripped the front and back portion of the Weena bus bearing plate number MVF-421 while parked at the Matalam public terminal June 8 last year, wounding five individuals.
Prosecutor Al Calica named the suspects as Badrudin Tabib Guaiselon, Salahudin Hassan, Abdulsalam Elias, Jabide Abdul, Mohamad Nur, Mohaliden Sulaik Hassan, Salamodin Hassan and Junaira Mimbida.
Of the eight, only Guaiselon has been arrested. He was nabbed three months after the incident while allegedly trying to plant an improvised explosive device (IED) at the public market of Tacurong City.
Guaiselon, police said, is a resident of Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Shariff Kabunsuan province.
Calica said Guaiselon admitted in his extra-judicial confession that he was among the bombers at the Matalam terminal. Furthermore, the prosecutor said that Guaiselon even admitted that he is a member of Al Kobar, a group said to be responsible for the series of bombings in North Cotabato, Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat and Davao del Sur. They were likewise tagged to be behind a string of extortion activities in the region.
Calica said the cases against the suspects are strong because of Guaiselon’s extra-judicial confession. The latter is now detained at the Cotabato Provincial Jail at Barangay Amas. (Williamor A. Magbanua / MindaNews)
