Garcia said the abductors on Sunday asked for P10 million ransom for the release of the victims, but he could not say if the demand was heeded that led to the release of the four.
The six were abducted on Saturday afternoon in Buluan, Maguindanao while on their way home to Davao City from Tacurong.
The name of the cosmetics company where the kidnap victims belong has not been made available by the police but Garcia described the venture as "big" since its products like soap are sold in the markets of Tacurong, Isulan in Sultan Kudarat and Kidapawan City in North Cotabato, among others.
Garcia said they spoke with the freed persons but “they were not giving much information.” He said this could be because their companions are still being held by theabductors.
"But the freed victims looked as if they were not pressured," he quoted initial military reports.
Provincial police commands in the area have been alerted about the latest kidnapping case to complement the efforts of the military to rescue the remaining captives.
Garcia said government troops are pursuing the kidnappers in the Liguasan Marsh portion of Sultan Kudarat province to rescue the remaining victims. The 120,000-hectare Liguasan Marsh also straddles the province of Maguindanao.
The kidnappers are believed led by Mayangcang Saguile who has been implicated in past kidnapping cases in Southwestern Mindanao. (MindaNews)
