Police manning the PNP station in Magpet found the body of Rodrigo at around 5 a.m. inside the detention cell Monday, his wrist cut and neck hanged on a steel bar.
Magpet PNP chief, Insp. Luis Pederio, said the suicide may have taken place around 2 a.m., when all the inmates were asleep.
“Baka kinonsensiya kaya siya nagpakamatay (The suspect could have been bothered by his conscience so he decided to kill himself),” said one of the police officers.
But Pederio is not closing the book on the case. “We’re looking at other angle or other possibility that’s why we’re conducting a deeper probe on this case,” Pederio stressed.
Rodrigo was placed behind bars two days after his aunt, together with his daughter, went to Magpet PNP station to file the complaint for rape. (MindaNews)
