Dorecita Delima, Department of Trade Industry (DTI) assistant regional director, said the participating ICT companies committed to offer "hundreds of jobs" for both skilled workers and professionals from the city and the neighboring areas.
"The job offers from the ICT companies have been actually growing during the last three years and this is an indication that our ICT industry has been also growing," she said.
The job fair, which will be held at the mallway of the KCC Mall here, is among the highlights of the 3rd e-Business Week Celebration that also opens on the same day.
Delima said among the companies that signified to join the job fair are AMA Computer Learning Center and College, Perfect Image Photo Plaza, Smart Communications, ABS-CBN and call centers Link2Support, G-Com and Six Eleven Global Solutions.
She said human resources managers and hiring officers from companies handling backr
oom operations, content development, call center and core ICT services will recruit workers not only from the field of ICT but also from engineering, communications, business and science-related fields of specialization.
Delima said the city alone produces more than 4,000 college graduates annually and most of them reportedly prefer to work in the ICT industry because of the vast opportunities it promises. "High paying jobs, high profile careers and better chances to work abroad are just a few reasons why they want to be in the dynamic world
of ICT," she said.
The e-Job fair is a joint initiative of the DTI, Department of Labor and Employment and ABS-CBN.
Aside from the job fair, she said the e-Business Week Celebration will also showcase the ICT skills of local graduates through a competition on AutoCad, webpage development, speed typing, and speed transcribing for medical transcription. It will also include a quiz bee and poster making contest.
Delima said various technology experts will also conduct at least 15 sessions on ICT-related topics such as the introduction of new computer software and applications, basic computer programming and the recent ICT trends.
The sessions will cover trends and technologies on medical transcription, MYOB accounting software, animation, advanced CorelDraw, systems integration, Visual Basic.Net, advanced AutoCad (3D), Linux administration, network administration using Windows Server, fixed and wireless broadband solutions (Globe Innove), SMART Technologies, PUNCH (interior and home designing software) and IT
certification (Philnits, Cisco, Microsoft, Java).
A five-day ICT exhibit will also be launched at the KCC Mall's atrium Thursday featuring technology and software vendors, internet and web service providers, medical transcription companies, content providers, mobile and wireless telecommunication companies and allied services providers.
