Chief Inspector Leo Ajero Kidapawan, OIC chief of police said the vintage bomb was accidentally found by the construction workers while digging a hole in the backyard of the New Berco Machine Shop.
The shop management immediately reported the matter to police authorities, who in turn called for the assistance of the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team for the proper disposal of the bomb.
Members of the 39th military bomb disposal successfully detonated the vintage bomb after half an hour with the help of the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) of the city police.
Ajero quoted an EOD member as saying the explosive still poses danger to the public despite its being old. (Williamor A. Magbanua/MindaNews)
