DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/15 Sept) — President Benigno Aquino III will arrive here Thursday morning to start up the P3.5-billion 42-megawatt hydro plant in Sibulan, Sta. Cruz town in Davao del Sur.
On his first visit in Mindanao since winning the presidency, Aquino is also expected to visit several livelihood projects of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao del Norte.
“The President will be flown by chopper to Sibulan where the he is expected to lead the ceremonies,” said Assistant Director General Efren Elbanbuena of the Philippine Information Agency.
The hydro plant operated by Hedcor, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aboitiz business group, is expected to supply the peak demand of Davao City.
Elbanbuena said the President will later meet local traders and government officials at the Marco Polo Hotel later in the afternoon. (Froilan Gallardo)
