KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/18 October) – An explosive went off around 2:30 p.m. today in a village in Cotabato City.
Senior Supt. Wilfredo Dangane, chief of the Cotabato City police, said a disposable B40 or rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) exploded inside a rented house in Tanghal Subdivision in Barangay Bagua-Dos.
No one, though, was hurt in the explosion, reports said.
Police recovered from the scene of incident a B40, some grocery items, including noodles, sardines, and a sack of rice, a rice cooker and a car.
Dangane hinted the explosion could be accidental and that there was no plan to attack the place.
The blast destroyed the house’s ceiling, the concrete wall, and the rest room where the B40 exploded.
Dangane said at least three unidentified males rented the house since September.
Investigators said the house is owned by an overseas Filipino worker who is presently in Saudi Arabia.
Police said the house’s caretaker escaped with the three tenants after the explosion.
Dangane, however, refused to release to reporters the identities of the house owner and the caretaker. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
