ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/13 December) – Policemen arrested a ranking government official for extortion in an entrapment operation Friday in this city.
Arrested was Atty. Macapado Guro, the regional director of the National Police Commission.
Senior Supt. Angelito Casimiro, Zamboanga City police director, said Guro was arrested around 5 p.m. at a pension house in Barangay Sta. Maria.
Casimiro said the entrapment was carried out as Guro was set to meet with two policemen from whom the official had allegedly demanded P10,000 each in exchange for dropping the administrative case filed against them.
The administrative case stemmed from the failure of the two policemen, who are assigned in Isabela City, to attend a court hearing.
Casimiro said Guro was taken to the PNP Crime Laboratory for ultra violet powder dusting and for documentation and detention at the Police Station 7.
Meanwhile, local police spokesperson Supt. Ariel Huesca disclosed that Guro was placed under hospital arrest after he complained of chest pains. (MindaNews)
