Journalists and artists gathered at the Megan Garden in Manila on Saturday, November 23, 2019 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Ampatuan Massacre.
The mass murder of 58 persons, 32 of them journalists, is acknowledged as the worst incident of electoral violence in recent Philippine history and the single deadliest attack on the press ever.
And yet, 10 years hence, not one of the 197 suspects charged for the slaughter has been convicted, although a non-extendable deadline of December 20 has been set.
The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines led the commemoration in Manila.
The mural was prepared by the Concerned Artists of the Philippines.
