Two teenage bakwits electrocuted

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/06 March) – Two teenage evacuees on an errand to fetch something near their place of origin in Barangay Macasampen, Guindulungan, Maguindanao, died of electrocution on March 1, from the live wire allegedly set up by the military, Bantay Ceasefire, a grassroots monitoring group of  the Mindanao Peoples Caucus, reported.

The military denied it set up the live wire. “What happened was an accident,” said the commander of the 46th Infantry Battalion.

3 high-profile inmates bolt Cotabato jail

KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / March 6) – Three alleged high-profile criminals escaped from their detention cells at the Cotabato Provincial Rehabilitation Center in Amas village here by destroying the back portion of their prison cell at around 2 am today, authorities said.

Rural bank in Kidapawan ransacked

KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / March 6) – At least three suspected thieves ransacked today a rural bank and carted some P150,000 in cash collections, authorities said.

PO1 Francis Blancada, member of the Investigation and Intelligence Unit of the Kidapawan City PNP, said the suspects could have entered the bank through the emergency exit of the Asian Hills Bank, one of the newest banks in the city.

Seven LGUs compete in Kaamulan 2009 street dancing

MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews / March 6) – Seven local government units are set to compete in this year’s Kaamulan street dancing competition, including former champion San Fernando, Cesar Apao, spokesperson to Gov. Jose Ma. R. Zubiri Jr said.

Apao said it is all-systems go for the competition.

Rebelyn: rebel leader's daughter dead at 20

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/06 March) –   She would have celebrated her 21st birthday on March 20 but teacher Rebelyn Maasin Pitao now lies inside a white casket at the Palermo chapel, Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes here, her long-sleeved white lace blouse and yellow skirt hiding the torture marks and stab wounds from an ice pick, but not enough to hide markings on her left wrist.

The “evil, vicious men from the military intelligence group,” her mother Evangeline says, “abducted, tortured, raped and stabbed to death”  Ivy,  Rebelyn’s nickname.
