16 November 2007

The Sumilao Farmers traversed a total of 20 kilometers from the Municipality of Bula to Naga City. Again the farmers continued walking despite heavy rains. They were all soaked and wet  because their rain coats were already tattered. This hardship did not affect the marchers' determination to reach the day's destination.

Delivered at the House of Representatives, 19 November 2007

QUEZON CITY (MindaNews/19 November) — Assalamu alaikum Warahmatullahi taala wabarakatuhu…

Just a few hours ago, I presented myself for investigation at the CIDG, at Camp Crame. COMMENTARY: Sumilao farmers “restored my faith in the Filipino human spirit” by Mayor Jesse Robredo

NAGA CITY (MindaNews/19 November) —  My wife, Leni and I, together with hundreds of other symphatizers joined the Sumilao Marchers from the Naga City boundary to Plaza Quince Martires (on November 16). The segment covered around six kilometers — a very short distance compared to the 1100 kilometers or so covered by the group, which started from Sumilao, Bukidnon. (It did not seem short to me. I was too tired to stay on for the rest of the short program.)

COMMENT: Once… Then… Now by Patricio P. Diaz

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (MindaNews/19 November) — Once, they were one. Then, they split over the issue: "Autonomy or Independence?" Now, they will be contesting the same Bangsamoro territory and people because of their separate peace agreements with the Philippine Government. That's the 30-year MNLF-MILF story.
