War’s fire victims will soon have their new houses

GUINDULUNGAN, Maguindanao (MindaNews/24 October) -Fifteen months after their houses were razed to the ground, victims of the July 2006 fire during the war between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the armed Civilian Volunteers Organization (CVOs) in Shariff Aguak and Datu Unsay towns in Maguindanao, will finally have their houses built, the head of mission of the International Monitoring Team said.

Gov’t, MILF peace panels break 13-month impasse

COTABATO CITY (MindaNews/24 October) – It’s over.

The Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) have broken the 13-month impasse on the ancestral domain agenda in the peace negotiations and are optimistic about resuming formal peace talks “before the end of the year.”

The two peace panels broke the impasse during a two-day special meeting in Kuala Lumpur that ended tonight.
