Davao City eyes ban on aerial spraying by January 2007

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/06 August) – Davao City may ban aerial spraying in all agricultural plantations here starting January 1, 2007 if the City Council approves this month an ordinance proposing such measure, Vice Mayor Luis Bonguyan said Sunday in the city government's weekly TV program "Gikan sa masa, para sa masa" (From the people, for the people).

Arm barangay tanods in ?selective and controlled? areas ? DILG

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/06 August) — Barangay Tanods (village watchmen) will play a more active role in the government’s anti-insurgency campaign and, where necessary, will even be armed, Local Governments Undersecretary Melchor Rosales said.
Rosales said arming the barangay tanods will be allowed in “selective and controlled” areas, as recommended by the peace and order council.
