Leading the participating teams in the basketball tournament which is part of the annual Kadayawan festival are Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA) titlist M. Lhuiller Kwarta Padala of Cebu City, National Basketball Conference (NBC) champions Ozamis City-Cotta of Ozamis City.
Other teams seeing action are North Cotabato Braves, Montana Pawnshop-Digos City, MVBA Mindanao division champion Pacman Basketball team and the host this city's goodwill team Duterte Agilas.
The champion team will get P60, 000 while second and third placer will receive P40, 000 and P30, 000 respectively and the fourth placer will also take home P15, 000.
The basketball tournament is among the series of sports events during the Kadayawan festival. Some P600, 000 has been released by the city to finance the series of sports events that also include chess, bowling, softball, basketball, volleyball, lawn tennis, badminton,karatedo, sepak takraw, dama, football, billiards, dancesports, boxing, table tennis, cycling and the new airsoft competetition.(Rico Biliran/MindaNews).
