COTABATO CITY (MindaNews / 7 Apr_ – The mayor of the municipality of Datu Unsay in Maguindanao, Bai Reshal Santiago-Ampatuan, died after she was rushed to a hospital in neighboring Shariff Aguak town past noon after Friday prayer.
She was the wife of Maguindanao massacre principal suspect Andal Ampatuan Jr.
, who was mayor at that time.
Brig. General Diosdado Carreon, 601st Infantry Brigade commander, said a lot of visitors are now paying their respects in Shariff Aguak ahead of the scheduled burial within the day.
The lady mayor collapsed in the middle of Friday prayer.
It is not sure yet what caused her demise.
She was last seen in public meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte during distribution of certificate of land ownership award (CLOA), which is given to land reform beneficiaries, at the Sultan Kudarat provincial capitol in Isulan last Tuesday.
