CLARIN, Misamis Occidental (MindaNews / 04 March) — Durian suman. Choco suman. Nangka suman.
These and more you can find at the House of Suman which sells 14 flavors of suman (glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaves).
“Name what kind of suman you like, we have it,” says Marlon Rhonda, adding “we even have a durian suman.”
A staff of ten workers produces 4,000 pieces of suman in the House of Suman every day
Rhonda says local tourists and balikbayans patronize their 14 varieties: plain, Balintawak, buko, peanut, choco, choco moron, ube moron, ube, mango, pineapple, nangka, durian, cheese and latik.
He said each suman sells at least seven pesos a piece.
The suman products are displayed in a small building called the House of Suman located along the Ozamiz-Dipolog highway.
It is one of the major tourist attractions being promoted by the Department of Tourism in Misamis Occidental.
From the airport of Ozamiz City, tourists are advised to take the motorcycles that would bring them to Clarin at 45 pesos per person.
There are two flights to Ozamiz from Manila and once daily from Cebu. (Froilan Gallardo / MindaNews)
