10 killed, 1 wounded in series of shooting incidents in Surigao City

SURIGAO CITY (MindaNews / 30 Apr) – Police are now investigating the spate of killings in the city that claimed at least 10 lives in a span of eight days since last week.

Supt. Ruben delos Santos, Surigao City police chief, said they are now conducting thorough investigations on the cases.

But no suspects have been arrested yet in any of the incidents.

The series of killings began Tuesday last week in Barangay Mat-i, killing one victim who was shot to death by still unidentified assailants.

On the same day, another shooting incident happened in Barangay Quezon, victimizing a certain Roel Tuisa Penados, 48. He was shot several times by two unidentified suspects.

Wednesday last we
ek, one what shot and killed in Barangay San Juan.

The next day, Junrey Estosi Escabal, a 26-year-old farmer, was ganged up by four armed men in Barangay Anomar, resulting to his death.

Then on Friday, two victims were shot by a lone gunman in Bar
angay Cagniog, killing one and wounding the other.

Last Tuesday, a certain Orlando Achas Salamanca, 57, a resident of Barangay Mapawa, was shot five times by three unidentified suspects. Then in the evening, Archie Culminas was shot and killed in Barangay Anomar by a lone gunman.

There were a few more fatal shooting incidents which MindaNews is still following up with the police.
