ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/06 March) – Gunmen believed to be Abu Sayyaf bandits kidnapped two public school teachers Thursday in Talusan town, Zamboanga Sibugay, a police official disclosed.
Senior Supt. Jose Bayani Gucela, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, identified the victims as Reynadit Silvano, 34 and Russel Bagonoc, 22, both teachers of Tuburan Elementary School in Talusan.
Gucela said the victims were seized by six gunmen around 7:30 a.
m. Thursday in Barangay Moalboal.
He said the victims were aboard a motorcycle en route to Tuburan Elementary School when the suspects flagged them down near the school in Moalboal.
He said investigation showed the suspects dragged the victims to the coast of Moalboal and forced them to board a motorized banca and sped towards the high seas.
He said four of the suspects were identified as the Sabdani brothers namely Naim, Mansul, and Amdadan and Edimar Isnain.
Gucela said the Sabdani brothers are residents of Moalboal while Isnain and two other unidentified abductors were alleged members of the Abu Sayyaf based in Basilan and Sulu provinces.
He added they established the suspects’ identities through Kapdul Hadjiula, the sister of the Sabdani brothers.
He said the suspects’ motorcycle was recovered near the barangay hall of Moalboal, around 200 meters from the place where the motorcycle of the victims was found. (MindaNews)
