ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/23 February) – Suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits have released the businessman they kidnapped last month in this city, a top police official disclosed.
Senior Supt. Edwin de Ocampo, acting city police director, said Edgar Fabella was freed at around 10 a.m. Friday at the Jolo wharf in Sulu.
Fabella was standing outside his residence in Barangay Maasin this city when seized by five alleged Abu Sayyaf bandits last January 11.
He was dragged into a waiting motorized banca that sped to the high seas.
Fabella, who spent a month and 11 days in captivity, owns a general merchandize store and an eatery here.
De Ocampo disclosed that Fabella was released following negotiations between the kidnappers and the victim’s family. (MindaNews)
