BUTUAN CITY (MindaNews/04 May) – A militiaman and his wife were killed and their daughter wounded when suspected members of the New People’s Army ambushed them in a remote village in Hinatuan town in Surigao del Sur Monday afternoon, reports reaching the regional police office here said.
Killed were Persinifles P. Mayordoma and his wife, Anita. Their daughter, Gemma, was brought to the Bislig City District Hospital.
The slain Cafgu belonged to the 23rd Citizens Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) detachment in Greenfield, Sta. Juana, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur. He was said to be a former NPA member
Mayordoma’s son, Reynante, escaped unharmed from the 2 p.m. ambush at Sitio Bingcongan, Barangay Bigaan in Hintauan, and Surigao del Sur on May 3.
Police said Mayordoma and his family were on their way home aboard a motorcycle driven by his son when seven alleged rebels fired at them. The attackers reportedly belong to the NPA’s Northeastern Mindanao regional command.
