Jail Officer 3 Elmiro Matondoc of BJMP-12 told former city jail warden Senior Insp. Buenaventura Pedrita, deputy jail warden SPO4 Badilles and four other jail guards enough time to explain the circumstances that led to the escape of suspected bomber Musali Cado and theft suspect Samuel Nasario.
Cado, court records showed, is being charged with multiple murder with multiple frustrated murder and multiple attempted murder for the bombings in Kidapawan City in November 2007 and in Makilala in October 2006.
The blasts killed nine people and injured at least 40 others.
Cado, reports added, also joined an armed attack against the North Cotabato Provincial Jail in Amas Complex here on Feb. 2, 2006 that led to the escape of 49 inmates, most of whom were charged with murder, kidnapping, and other heinous crimes.
Criminal complaints were filed against Pedrita and five of his men a week after Cado’s escape.
“We’re still working on the administrative complaints to be filed against Pedrita and others. Probably next week, we’ll know the results of the investigation led by our regional prosecutor, JO3 Matondoc,” said BJMP-12 spokesperson Senior Insp. Jo Anthony Gargarita.
Senior Insp. Israel Arboleta from the regional BJMP office in General Santos City has replaced Pedrita.
Arboleta has 13 other jail officers, all coming from BJMP-12 office, manning the Kidapawan City Jail District.
Meantime, Gargarita said Cado has joined another lawless group affiliated with the so-called Al Khobar, an extortion ring operating in the region. A relative of Cado’s, who is also wanted for several murder cases, reportedly heads the group.
Gargarita, though, refused to divulge the identity of the group and its leader. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
