House Speaker commits to enact a bill extending CARP on or before June 6

Amelita Villarosa (Mindoro Occidental), Michael John Duavit (Rizal), Robert Raymund Estrella (ABONO), Alejandro Marañon (Negros Occidental), Conrado Estrella (Pangasinan), Jeffrey Ferrer (Negros Occidental), Andres Salvacion (Northern Leyte), Mat Defensor (Iloilo), DAR officials, representatives from civil society groups Christian Monsod and Gerry Bulatao, and representatives from farmer groups.

Gabriela solon: No more women for US troops! Abrogate the VFA!

QUEZON CITY (Gabriela/03 April) — "History and recent experience should have taught us that the presence of US troops in the country has been exploiting our women," said Gabriela solon Luzviminda Ilagan, citing reports on US soldiers “being given prostituted women for leisure in Bicol.”

Senator Francis Pangilinan expressed his concern over reports that “American soldiers involved in the Balikatan joint military exercise with Filipino troops in Bicol were supplied with women nightly.”

Community consultations on peace process start next week

5 injured in bus terminal blast

Moro woman is 2nd placer in bar exams

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/04 April) –  Mylene Amerol-Macumbal of the Mindanao State University ranked second in the 2008 bar examinations with an average score of 85.65 percent, just .05 per cent lower than the 85.70 rating of topnotcher Judy Lardizabal of San Sebastian College.

Ms Macumbal teaches taxation at the MSU-Institute of Technology in Iligan City.

Malaybalay mayor open to local peace talks with NPA
