GENERAL SANTOS CITY (MindaNews/07 Nov) — More than the mural depicting the history and state of press freedom, the perception of press freedom by the National Press Club was debased and distorted. The integrity of that perception and of the officers running it needs restoration more than the originality of the defiled mural.
A national artist, a visual artist and an art critic are one in extolling a work of art as sacred and in condemning its retouching by anyone other than its creator in order to please a patron – not an art but a political patron – as a defilement, a form of censorship (INQUIRER.net, Nov. 5).
