IMT wants fewer soldiers deployed to Mindanao

Davao City Council passes resolution in solidarity with Burmese people

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/02 October) – Davao City legislators on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution expressing the City Council’s “solidarity” with the people of Burma and supporting the calls of the United Nations (UN) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for the country, renamed Myanmar by its military junta in 1989, to “respect human rights, free Aung Sang Suu Kyi and all political detainees, and move towards democracy.”

Is Malaysia pulling out of IMT in November?

DAVAO  CITY (MindaNews/02 October) –  Malaysia is reportedly  pulling out its troops in the International Monitoring Team  (IMT) in November this year if there is “no significant progress” in the peace talks between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
