Mission in Sabah makes headline in KK for controversial quote

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/10 November) —  The head of the congressional team sent to Malaysia by the House of Representatives to ask authorities there  for a “smooth and staggered deportation” of Filipino women and children considered illegally staying in Sabah, made the headline of Kota Kinabalu’s The Borneo Post last Tuesday for allegedly saying the children of refugees who fled the war in Mindanao are “not Filipinos.”

RDC 12 to lobby for P11.2-B investments

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (MindaNews/10 November) —  Key leaders of the Regional Development Council of Region 12 (Southwestern Mindanao) will meet with national government officials and representatives of foreign donor agencies in Manila next week to lobby for some P11.2 billion worth of investments for priority development projects in the region.

Require security plans in buildings

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/10 November) — All public installations should have a physical security and a bomb incident plan, an official from the military's explosives unit said Friday.
But it isn't an alarmist pitch, said Capt. Ramon Torres, commanding officer of the 6th Explosives Ordinance Disposal Detachment Unit. "We are only trying to increase the awareness of the public on these explosives," he said in a press conference here.
