Davao lady booters eye 3rd title

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/August 3) –This city will seek its third straight title when the 2006 Philippine Football Federation National Ladies Open Finals opens on August 7 to 12 in Dumaguete City. Davao City’s American coach Shane Dasher said this will “give the girls the opportunity to gain results on the highest level and make Davao shine on the national soccer platform.  The team is bannered by SEA Games campaigner Merlo Albano (Holy Child), July Anne Bunac (Holy Child), Joeanne del Rosario (Ateneo), Rachel de los Reyes (Holy Child), Keith Shelly Canton (Holy Child), Vanessa Leonar, Sheena Santander (UP Mindanao), Jude Tajo (Ateneo), Lederine Dono, Anna Lou Ingles, Gennievive Suyco, Michelle Alfeche, Herlyn Mae Salmon (Holy Child), Ellen Cuizon-Ching, Jasper Joy Cabisong (Ateneo), Lomalyn Fama, and Leonor Satorre (SOS).

Lanao Norte Gov. questions 2007 ‘Palaro’ host bidding process

KORONADAL CITY (MindaNews/Aug. 3)—The fight for the right to host next year’s Palarong Pambansa may not be over yet even after the recent announcement naming Koronadal City as the host for the 2007 in-school national games. This develop after reports indicate that a protest may be filed by one of the losing bidders–Lanao del Norte with the Department of Education over its choice of Koronadal City as host of next year's Palarong Pambansa, the country's biggest grassroots sports event. The information was relayed to MindaNews by South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance Fuentes Thursday who talked with Lanao del Norte Gov. Imelda Dimaporo.
