KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / 24 Aug) – A businessman in Carmen, North Cotabato survived a gun attack on Thursday but lost close to a million pesos of his earnings to still unidentified robbers, police said.
Senior Insp. Gaspar Maguiwe, deputy chief of Carmen Police, identified the victim as Roy Bautista Angcaco, 51, agri-trader from Purok-9 in Poblacion, Carmen.
Maguiwe said the victim was sitting on his motorbike parked just outside a hardware store along the national highway when one of the two unidentified suspects approached him and pumped bullets on his back and chest.
After Angcaco slumped on the cemented road, the gunman took the victim’s bag which allegedly contained cash amounting to P700,000, the money he earned from selling his agricultural products in the town center.
Angcaco was rushed to the Carmen Municipal Hospital by bystanders for treatment.
Maguiwe said the victim survived the attack and hinted robbery as the motive in the shooting. (Malu Cadelina Manar / MindaNews)
