DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/02 May) – Mindanaon writers, literature teachers and reserarches are invited to submit papers for the 1st Conference on Mindanao Literatures on February 24 to 26, 2016.
The Conference, initiated by the Department of Humanities of UP Mindanao, will be the first in a series of conferences that will address issues and problems in teaching and researching on Mindanao literatures.
An announcement posted on his Facebook wall by UP Mindanao professor and former Chancellor Ricky de Ungria said the conference aims to bring together, “for the first time,” stakeholders in Mindanao literatures; assess the state of Mindanao literatures vis a vis regional literatures and national literature; bring to the surface problems in literary production, dissemination, and pedagogy in the island that could be topics for researches; come up with suggested solutions to the above problems; and discover ways to improve networking among writers and literature teachers and lay the groundwork for a Mindanao literature teachers and researchers organization.
Abstracts on the following topics can be sent to mindalitcon@gmail.com on or before June 30: situationers on Lumad, settler, and Muslim writings in each of the six Mindanao regions; teaching Mindanao literatures; and doing research on Mindanao literatures.
