ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/05 March) – Unidentified persons abducted Tuesday a town vice mayor in Basilan province at a shopping mall in this city.
Arsina Nanoh, 20, is the vice mayor of Hadji Muhtamad, Basilan. She is also a jeweler.
Supt. Diomarie Albarico, Police Station 11 commander, said Nanoh’s husband, Alnajil, reported around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday that his wife was allegedly abducted at a shopping mall along La Purisima Street.
Albarico said investigation showed that the Nanoh couple together with some friends went to the mall around 12:15 p.m.
He said the couple was already at the mall’s exit gate aboard a car at 12:57 p.m. when the vice mayor told her husband she received a call from a friend asking her to return to the mall.
She told Alnajil to just wait for her call to pick her up from the shopping mall, the police official said.
Alnajil told police he then left and later received a text message from the supposed abductors using his wife’s cellular phone that they had his wife.
Alnajil added the text message said “that they were waiting for their boss as they would just inform him what they wanted.
”
Albarico said Alnajil went back to the shopping mall but failed to locate his wife prompting him to report the incident to the police.
In a follow-up interview Wednesday, Albarico said they have yet to determine the whereabouts of the victim as well as establish the identities of the kidnappers.
He said the kidnappers have not made contacts with the victim’s family. (MindaNews)
