MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews/08 September) — A still unknown assailant shot to death a lady dentist inside her clinic here around 11am today.
Dr. Ma. Bernadette Tenorio-Gubaton was shot at close range by a man pretending to be a patient. She was rushed to the Bethel Baptist Hospital but was declared dead on arrival, a hospital staff said via telephone.
Lawyer Apollo Maguale, president of the Rotary Club of Malaybalay, where Gubaton was a former president and member of the board at the time of her death, confirmed the report from the hospital’s emergency room.
Tenorio-Gubaton, who ran the Magic Smile Dental Clinic, was active in socio-civic projects, Maguale added.
Police were still investigating the scene of the crime as of 2pm.
One of the dentist’s two children was in an adjacent room when the shooting occurred.
Patients and friends started to pour prayers and farewell messages in her Facebook account.
“Rest in peace to you, my dear friend,” a message from friend “SK” said.
But some continued to express shock and sorry for the loss.
“God will handle those who did this to you, Doc. This is too shocking I can’t believe. … I hate to accept, but God will take charge! I love you,” DJ, a patient said in her message on Tenorio-Gubaton’s FB wall. (Walter I. Balane/MindaNews)
