MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews/18 May) – Issues and problems facing public education in this city will be tackled in the education summit today at the training center of the Department of Education-Division of Bukidnon.
According to a statement from organizers, the summit is a pilot initiative of the Enabling Education Communities (EEC) Project, which is a product of the collaboration between the Ayala Foundation, the Local Government Unit of Malaybalay City and the Department of Education.[]
The collaboration intended to “to empower members of a community to work together for the improvement of public education to tap the participation of the community to plan, act, and solve existing problems in education.[]
”
Expected to speak in the forum are representatives from DepEd’s regional and division offices, city officials, and Ayala Foundation.
Some 200 participants are expected to attend. They include teachers and principals, parents and students as well as business and civic groups, nongovernment organizations, and private colleges.[]
“Indeed, no education reform is possible without the support and active participation of the local community,” the statement said.
