KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/21 September) – The municipal treasurer of Datu Montawal town in Maguindanao was shot dead around 10 a.m. yesterday, police reports said.
The victim, Dr. Alonto Bangcolit, sustained four gunshot wounds in the head.
Senior Insp. Akmad Mama, deputy chief of Kabacan police said Bangcolit was driving his gray Toyota HiLux on his way to the University of Southern Mindanao in Kabacan, North Cotabato when an unidentified assailant approached from the eastern portion of the USM Avenue and shot him.
After making sure the victim was dead the gunman walked casually to where his motorcycle was parked, a few meters away from the crime scene.
Bangcolit was declared dead on arrival at the Kabacan Medical Specialist Hospital in Kabacan.
Akmad said they motive could either be rido or clan feud or work-related.
