ARMM comprises the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-tawi and the cities of Marawi and Lamitan.
There are 11 ARMM holidays, one of which, Eid’l Fitr, the end of Ramadan, is a national holiday.
Under PD 1083, the holidays are Amun Jadid (New Year) which falls on the first day of the first lunar month of Muharram; Maulidid-Un Nabi (Birthday of Prophet Mohammad) which falls on the 12th day of the third lunar month of Rabi-ul Awwal; L ailatul Isra Wal Mira (Nocturnal Journey and Ascension of Prophet Mohammad) which falls on the 27th day of the seventh
lunar month of Rajab; E id-ul-Fitr (Harirary Puasa) which falls on the 1st day of the tenth lunar month of Shawwal; commemorating the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan and Eid-ul-Adha (Hariraya Hadji) – falls on the 10th day of the twelfth lunar month of Dhul-Hijja.
Eid-ul-Fitr has been declared a national holiday under RA 9177 passed in 2002. This year it is around September 20, depending on the sighting of the moon.
Eid-ul-Adha or the Islamic Feast of Sacrifice this year falls on November 27.
Under MMA 17, the holidays are : Ashura which falls on the 10th day of the lunar month of Muharram; Nisfu Sha’ban which falls on the 15th day of the eight lunar month of Sha’ban; Bangsamoro Freedom Day on March 18; Sheik Karimul Makhdum Day on November 7, ARMM anniversary on November 19 and Shariff Kabunsuan Day on December 19.
