Sulu officials cautioned vs illegal arrests; CSOs say 43 arrested
DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/05 April) – The Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panligal (Saligan-Mindanaw) and Bangsamoro Lawywers Network have cautioned local government officials and the police and military in Sulu that the declaration of a state of emergency there does not give them “a blanket authority to arrest any or all suspects, even of terrorism,” as reports reaching the lawyers’ groups from Sulu’s civil society organizations, indicate 43 persons have been arrested since the declaration.
