Meranaw artisans join ‘Likha’ in Manila
Seven Meranaw artisans from Lanao del Sur displayed their carvings and teaching skills during the “Likha” event at the Philippine International Convention Center in Metro Manila from June 6 to 11.
Among them are okir artist Anwar Azis, Tugaya town artist Lantong Pangcoga, and balud weaver Sonaya Palao.
Started in February 2023, Likha is a gathering of Filipino artisans and weavers from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The weavers included those from the Blaans in Lake Sebu and Mapun Island in Tawi-Tawi.

Illegal drugs worth P34.3M burned in Butuan City
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine National Police burned P34.3 million worth of illegal drugs in Butuan City last Friday.
PDEA-13 information officer Dindo Abellanosa said the drugs weighed 51,807 grams and were burned at the Orgon Wood Industries in Butuan City.
He said of the drugs that were destroyed included 4, 209 grams of shabu and 47,598 grams of dried marijuana leaves. (Froilan Gallardo/MindaNews)
