Heavy rainfall triggers flash flood in Tubod, Lanao del Norte

LINAMON, Lanao del Norte (MindaNews / 14 December) —  Sustained heavy rainfall with thunderstorm for almost two hours triggered a flash flood along Crossing Poblacion in Tubod, Lanao del Norte at around 6:30 p.m. 

“Pag gawas nako sa printshop kay taas na ang tubig sa highway” (When I stepped out of the printshop the water level was already high), businessman Katsoot Buhisan said. 

Buhisan said water from the concrete drainage overflowed and passenger and private vehicles were stranded. 

Abeliza Manzano,  Chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office said there is a possibility that the drainage system along the highway is clogged.

Manzano said the Department of Public Works and Highways in the first congressional district should  conduct an inspection on the drainage system.
