MindaNews’ Gallardo is new Cagayan de Oro Press Club president
MindaNews reporter Froilan Gallardo was elected as president of the Cagayan de Oro Press Club over the weekend.
The press club held the elections last Saturday to vote for the 15-man board of directors.
After the board was elected, the directors voted Gallardo as president.
He will lead the club until 2025.
Also elected were Ms. Haney Pisos of Power Radio Villanueva, executive vice president; Nef Luczon of Philippine News Agency, vice president for print; Annaliza Reyes of DxCC, vice president for radio; Steph Berganio of Northern Mindanao Daily Source, secretary; Gil Banaag of Golden Banner weekly, treasurer; and Joey Nacalaban of Gold Star Daily, auditor.
The remaining elected members of the board are Amor Barlisan, Tony Albania, Jao Gumapac, Ric Ociones, Fred Soriano, Rose Mondejar, Martin Rapanot, while Allan Mediante and Ronnie Waniwan will share the one-year term after tying down in the elections.
Camiguin emergency responders get BLS training
The Department of Health’s Health Emergency Management Bureau conducted Basic Life Support training to 107 emergency responders from seven barangays in Camiguin island province.
Fire Senior Inspector Clement Talines said aside from Basic Life Support, they trained the barangay responders in basic firefighting techniques, bandaging and victim packaging.
The training was held at the Camiguin Convention Center in Mambajao town from January 31 to February 1.
Cagayan de Oro opens 61 new PUV routes
The city government of Cagayan de Oro opened 61 new public utility vehicle routes to address its public transport supply problems.
The Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) crafted the routes in addition to the existing 139 around the city.
RTA Chief Nonito Oclarit said the new routes are divided into rationalized and developmental routes.
He said they hope to finalize the new transport routes by August after submitting the plan to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board for review and approval.
Sarangani barangay kagawad killed
A barangay kagawad was killed while trying to pacify an altercation in Malungon town, Sarangani province last Friday.
Pedrito Moda Tampole, 57 , a kagawad of Barangay JP Laurel in Malungon, died after one of the parties he tried to pacify stabbed him, police reports said.
The report said responding police officers shot and wounded his assailant.
