New solar plant to be constructed in Phividec, Misamis Oriental
A new 20-megawat solar plant will be constructed at the Phividec Industrial Estate in the municipality of Tagoloan in Misamis Oriental this year.
Juan Eugenio Roxas, president and CEO of Filinvest’s power arm, FDC Utilities Inc., signed an agreement with lawyer Joseph Donato Bernedo, Phividec administrator and CEO, for FDC’s first solar plant in Mindanao.
“We are excited to share the positive outcome of our project which we hope to start construction this year,” Roxas told reporters in a press conference last week.
The project involves the installation of more than 34,000 monocrystalline solar panels which can produce 20 megawatts of electricity for the Mindanao electric cooperatives.
Under the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001, electric cooperatives are required to source 2.5 percent of their annual electricity demands from green energy.
The Cagayan de Oro City Information Office reported that 14,522 business establishments have renewed their license to operate for 2024.
The office also noted there were 550 new firms who applied for their licenses to operate for the first time.
“These numbers are a slight increase from the same period last year,” the CIO said.
