The DCPO, in a statement, urged the public to “refrain from spreading fake news that may disturb public peace and order” in the city after information of alleged bomb threats following the bombing incident at the Mindanao State University in Marawi City last December 3 circulated on social media recently.
It said malicious dissemination of false information such as alleged bomb threats against the city is punishable under the law.
Police Major Catherine dela Rey, Police Regional Office-Davao spokesperson, said during Kapihan sa Philippine Information Agency-Davao on Friday that around 5,000 security personnel, composed of 2,700 police officers, 800 auxiliaries, and 1,500 volunteers from different groups, are being deployed in churches in the region.
