CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (MindaNews / 16 Nov) – Mayor Oscar Moreno offered on Monday a P2-million reward money for anyone who can help authorities bring to justice the killers of 45-year-old Roland Sherwin “Tawee” Uy, kagawad of Barangay Carmen, and his employee last Thursday.
The son of incumbent 1st District Rep. Rolando Uy, “Tawee” and his caretaker, Samuel Pabalan, were gunned down in the family-owned quarry site in Barangay Pagatpat, this city.
Police are looking for two gunmen who fled on board a motorcycle after committing the mid-day killings.
Calling the killings as “brutal, senseless and barbaric,” Moreno said the P2-million bounty should lead to the arrest and prosecution of the killers and mastermind.
Major Evan Viñas, spokesperson of the city police office, said probers have sent the bullet slugs found in the bodies of Uy and Pabalan to the Philippine National Police crime lab for crosschecking.
Viñas said the bullets would be compared to those used in major crimes committed in Northern Mindanao for the past five years.
“Eventually we hope we can find a match and find the killers,” he said.
Viñas said two gunmen pumped a total of nine bullets at Uy and Pabalan, causing their instantaneous deaths.
He said a second gunman even went up to the dying Uy and fired another round to ensure that he will be dead.
The killings could be the first-election related violence in the city ahead of the 2022 elections. (Froilan Gallardo / MindaNews)
