KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/ 26 November) – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Cotabato finally confirmed the appointment of lawyer Nicholas “Nicky” Sevilla Marasigan as provincial administrator during Tuesday’s regular session.
“I was so happy that I got the concurrence of the Sanggunian… that they trusted me for this job,” Marasigan said.
In August, Cotabato Gov. Nancy Catamco designated Marasigan as the provincial administrator after her first choice, Basilio Obello, was twice denied by the provincial board.
But Marasigan failed to get the nod of the legislative body then.
He said he was finally confirmed Tuesday after meeting the requirements set by the Civil Service Commission, which included the transcript of records and the certification from the Supreme Court that he passed the bar examinations.
For trusting him, Marasigan assured Catamco that he will do his best and that he will not abuse the power vested upon him.
Vice Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza presided during Tuesday’s session where nobody objected to Marasigan’s appointment.
In July, the provincial board twice denied the appointment of Obello, prompting him to criticize the process in his radio program “We Love NC,” which was aired over four radio stations in the province.
Obello’s statements irked Mendoza, who filed a cyber libel suit against him and two of his former staff.
