KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / 17 August) – Twenty-eight families affected by the recent fire here received 30,000 pesos each and relief items from Senator Bong Go when he visited the area on Friday.
The 30,000 peso assistance is from the National Housing Authority (NHA) through its Emergency Housing Assistance Program.
Go, together with representatives from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health and City Mayor Joseph Evangelista, went to Kalye Putol in Poblacion at around 1:30 p.m., to hand over
the assistance to the victims of the August 5 fire that gutted 12 houses and affected 28 families
Go also invited fire victims and other poor families in Kidapawan City to seek assistance from the Malasakit Center he established in Davao City.
Go entertained the residents by rendering a song, together with actors Robin Padilla and Philip Salvador.
In nearby Makilala town, Go joined a ‘boodle fight’ lunch with Army and police officers, local officials, barangay officials, and some residents.
Go’s visit to Kidapawan City was his first in North Cotabato after he took oath as senator on June 30.
He proceeded to an Army brigade headquarters in Sultan Kudarat to attend an important activity in the area.
The town of Sultan Kudarat is part of Maguindanao in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The initial decommissioning of at least 12,000 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front’s Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) will will take place in the old provincial capitol in Sultan Kudarat on September 7.
The 12,000 represents 30% of the 40,000 BIAF members and their decommissioning from September 7, 2019 to March 2020 is under Phase 2 of the four-phase process. (Malu Cadelina Manar / MindaNews)
