DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/01 November) — Fifty families from the Sama Bangigi fisherfolk whose houses were burned down during the September 2013 standoff in Zamboanga City between government forces and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) under Nur Misuari, received their new houses on stilts from the Zamboanga-Basilan Integrated Development Alliance, Inc. (ZABIDA) on Saturday.
In a press release, ZABIDA said it provided each family with P50,000 worth of lumber and galvanized roofing and the families themselves helped each other in constructing their houses.
Zabida was assisted in the housing project by the Agencia Espanola de Cooperacion Internacional para Desarollo (AECID), the international development agency of the Spanish government, through the representation of Fr.
