No one was injured in the incident.
Fire officials were still assessing the damage to properties and still investigating the cause of the fire as of posting time.
The police were also verifying if the fire burned some firearms and ammunition.
Flor Dimabildo, a resident of PC hill, said the fire began at the police barracks.
“I saw a black smoke then suddenly it became a monstrous fire. I shouted there’s a fire and despite the immediate response of the neighbors, the fire spread very fast, engulfing the old wooden-built barracks”, Dimabaldo told MindaNews.
A police official, who declined to be identified, tearfully watched as his quarter was gutted by the blaze.
He was thankful though that his wife and two kids were safely evacuated.
“In just a few minutes, all of our hardly earned investments were gone,” lamented.
