Abu Sayyaf bandits seize 3 DSWD workers in Sulu

ZAMBONGA CITY (MindaNews/18 July) – Gunmen suspected to be Abu Sayyaf bandits abducted Thursday three government workers in the province of Sulu, a police official said.

Senior Supt. Abraham Orbita, Sulu police director, said the victims are workers of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) but withheld their identities upon request of the families.

The Abu Sayyaf bandits are still holding captive kidnap victims, some of whom are believed to be foreigners.

Two of the captives are Zamboangueños who were seized last June 4 while working on a government water system project in Sulu. (Mindanews)
