GENERAL SANTOS CITY (MindaNews/11 March) — The Police Regional Office 12 has reassigned some 133 police personnel to police offices and stations in the region in a bid to help build up their operational strengths.
Chief Supt. Lester Camba, Region 12 police director, said Tuesday such move is part of their continuing efforts to help beef up the manpower of local police units to cope with the continuing socio-economic improvements and development expansions in the region.
Region 12, which is also known as the Soccsksargen Region, comprises the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, North Cotabato and the cities of General Santos, Koronadal, Tacurong, Kidapawan and Cotabato.
The official said the reassigned policemen were previously under the PRO-12’s Regional Public Safety Battalion, which is formerly known as the Regional Mobile Group.
He said these policemen were among their newest recruits and hold the rank of Police Officer 1.
“They were reassigned according to the needed manpower of our local field units,” Camba said in a statement.
The official said a total of 39 police officers were reassigned effective Monday to the Cotabato City Police Office: 33 to the North Cotabato Provincial Police Office; 18 to General Santos City Police Office; 14 to the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Police Office; 14 to the Sarangani Provincial Police Office; and 14 to the South Cotabato Provincial Police Office.
He said one was sent to the police regional headquarters service group to assist in its medical services and related operations.
Prior to their formal reassignment, Camba said the 133 police officers underwent an orientation to remind them of their vital role “in our quest for change and to uplift the image of the Philippine National Police.”
He said among the instructions given to them is to ensure the provision of “quality police services to the community.”
“It is also the right time to repay the kindness that their municipalities had given to them during the application process. We are now returning that favor,” he said.
Camba urged the reassigned policemen to always “put in your minds and heart the real essence of being a police officer — the one people always wish to have, the protectors of the innocent and the defenders of the weak.”
“Let us serve our community with utmost dedication. Mostly, always protect your dignity and reputation being the enforcers of the law as well as free yourself from any stain of immorality and corruption,” he added. (MindaNews)
