ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/11 April) – The city government here has distributed P1.17-million worth of motorboats, boosting the mobility of officials from this city’s eight island barangays.
The locally made motorboats, each costing P146,000, have twin engines for a total of 16 horsepower. These were distributed to the recipient barangays by Mayor Celso Lobregat on Wednesday.
The officials who received the motorboats were Hadji Attang Mohammad Nur of Tigtabon, Carsona Abunawas of Tumalutab, Abubakar Hakim of Manalipa, Khadafi Jailani of Pangapuyan, Husnie Arabassa of Landang Laum, Jul Adjula of Landang Gua, Patta Allang of Pasilmanta, and Baddah Lassal of Busay.
Lobregat said the watercrafts will help improve mobility from the island barangays to the mainland and can be used during emergency situations, for patrol purposes or even to ferry teachers to and from the islands.
The motorboats were in addition to the Multicab vehicles distributed earlier to each of the eight island barangays.
Attang said they would no longer have to rent motorized banca in coming to city hall for official business since they already have their own watercraft.
Arabassa said the motorized banca will be a big help to the constituents, especially during emergency situations. (MindaNews)
