ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/7 July)—Police arrested on Friday two city government project inspectors for violating the gun ban imposed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).[]
In an en banc session on June 27, the Comelec promulgated Resolution 9479 that provides for the implementation of the gun ban from July 1 to 31 in the entire Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and in seven non-ARMM areas.
The non-ARMM areas included in the gun ban implementation are the cities of Cotabato, Isabela and Zamboanga and the provinces of Lanao del Norte, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Zamboanga del Sur.
The gun ban implementation is in line with the new voters’ listing in ARMM, which groups the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, from July 9 to 18.
